1974 Ferrari Dino 246 GT

Vehicle Description

Production of the Dino 246 GT commenced in August of 1969 after 152 units of the 206 GT had been built. The engine was enlarged to 2.4 litres and the new model also had a slightly extended wheelbase. The 65 degree V6 was transverseley mounted featured dual overhead camshafts with two valves per cylinder and wet sump lubrication. The block was cast iron with an alloy head and three twin choke Weber carburettors. Transmission was an all syncromesh five speed with a single plate clutch. The body was styled by Pininfarina with Scaglietti handling the fabrication of steel panels with the exception of the aluminium front lid. The chassis was tubular steel with alloy panels riveted in place and rack and pinion steering. Fully independent suspension all around with Koni telescopic dampers and coil springs.

Delivered by HR Owen on 14th of March 1974 to Mr. K Chan, optioned with power operated windows, metallic paint and full leather interior. Mr. Chan parted with the Dino in October of 1975 and was sold to a motor trader who held possession until February of 1976 when purchased by Mr. Payne of Nottingham. Only having the Dino for about a year she was then sold Mr. Welsh who owned until May of 1984. The new owner Mr. Graham carried out a bare metal respray and major strip down/overhaul over May/June of 1985. The Dino was then sold through Nick Cartright to Mr. Willis in July of 1986 who would own the car up until Mr. Teichman purchased in October of 1989. Less than a year later the Dino was sold to Mr. Roberts in 1990 and 5 years later his father would become the legal owner after the son immigrated to New Zealand. In August of 1998 the current owner purchased from the Roberts family and the Dino has not been offered for sale since. Chassis 06838 remains a matching numbers example and presents beautifully in original colours.

Overall an excellent example that benefitted from a sympathtic restoration by Foskers in 2013. Offered with a detailed history file showing works over the years, continuous ownership throughtout, and original delivery invoices.
