The Ferrari F40 is a supercar with such legendary status that it is recognised by anyone with even a remote interest in cars. Intended as simply the ultimate road-going Ferrari, the F40 was the final development of the company’s 288 GTO Evoluzione programme. The F40 made use of lightweight composite materials including Kevlar and carbon fibre. However, more significantly, it was driven by a twinturbocharged 2.9-litre V8 producing an astonishing 471bhp. Contemporary road tests claimed 0-60mph times of less than 4.0 seconds. The F40 was also the first road legal production car to boast a 200mph+ top speed - a significant milestone in performance car history. The Ferrari F40 was arguably the world’s first car with an ‘instant classic’ status. Thousands of people put their name down for an example and cars traded hands for vast premiums over list price. Formula One driver Nigel Mansell famously sold his F40 for £1m in 1990 - less than a year after taking delivery. Today, the F40 is sought after by enthusiasts around the world, who see it as one of the greatest supercars ever made. Even the most recent Ferrari hypercars can't match the F40's raw performance and purity of design. It remains the definitive road-going performance icon. This early Ferrari F40 was supplied new to Germany in 1989 in the desirable Non-Cat/Non-Adjust specification. The ultra low mileage showing on the odometer is backed up by a comprehensive service history. The factory weave is very visible and is in completely original in condition. Factory tools, wallet and cover are supplied with the car as is a fresh service including new belts. Foskers Monaco are delighted to market this F40 having Ferrari classiche´ certification.
