Foskers Restoration Projects

Restoration of 4 seater classic

02.06.10

The restoration department at Foskers have just taken delivery of another project, a Ferrari 330 GT 2+2 Series 2. In 1966 this 330 GT 2+2 Series 2 was 1 of only 36 right hand drive cars supplied by Maranello Concessionaires in the United Kingdom. The main points which distinguish the Series 2 from the first model are the single headlights and the addition of a 5 speed gear box.

As you will see from the pictures this car needs a lot of tender loving care from the Foskers team, it is however a wonderful find due to its supreme originality which we will retain throughout the restoration process. In the last 44 years this car has had just four registered keepers, it is apparent from the mileage that it was used regularly in the first 10 years until it was taken off the road. The car had done 50,000 miles when the owner decided to change the colour of the vehicle and carry out works to the engine, this was in 1976 and the point where Foskers takeover, 34 years after the car was taken off the road for improvement works.

Working ahead of schedule the Foskers Restoration team fit the 330 GT 2+2 to an inspection ramp, ready to begin the process of stripping back the car to a bare chassis. The engine had already been removed by the previous owner so the team started on stripping back the door panels, seats, dash, trims, and boot area, all items being fastidiously itemised and boxed. The vehicle was then raised on the ramp to remove the exhaust system, manifolds, wheels, brakes, suspension parts etc.

Once the car is stripped back to bare shell it receives a final jet wash and clean to remove any loose debris from the vehicle. The car is then sent to the paintshop ready for bare metalling and painting. Originality on this project is paramount. We have managed to trace the original Blue Sera 20.264A.IT paint code from Ferrari records so we can return the exterior to it's factory colour. The interior will also remain original, with Light Grey leather and Borrani wire wheels, a factory option on this model.

This wonderful 1966 330 GT 2+2 is currently available for sale, if you are interested in purchasing a restored car then please contact us at your earliest convenience to avoid disappointment.
