Ferrari 330 GT 2+2

Monday 9th January was Bernard Foskers 79th birthday. So happy birthday Bernard from all the team at "Foskers".

Another reason to celebrate was the firing up of the engine on Ferrari 330 chassis number 8133. The last time it ran was 1976 before being dismantled by the previous owner with the intention of carrying out a complete rebuild. The rebuild unfortunately never happened and both the car and engine were laid up in a barn for the next 33 years. After a complete Fosker overhaul, including new pistons, liners, camshaft and all bearings, the engine was installed in December 2011.

Last week after some initial fuel problems caused by a sticking auto-flux pump, we fired the engine into life....as we are still awaiting the original ANSA silencers from Ferrari UK, we decided to test run it with only the exhaust manifolds and downpipes fitted

The sound was an absolute delight, imagine a V12 without silencers! It ran smoothly from the moment it started. Oil pressure was good, with no oil or water leaks. It even idled happily before the carbs where balanced and tuned, so an engine builder's delight and no doubt a relief to the boys in the work shop. So well done to the Restoration team.

I look forward to testing the car on the roads in the next few weeks, provided of course that there is no salt on the roads!!
