A change of venue, seemed to confuse a few of the owners as half turned out to Goudhurst, whilst the other half went to our previous venue, at Ide Hill. Never mind I hope that all concerned had a good night irrespective of which leafy Kent lanes they trod!
I always look forward to the thrash, sorry, I mean drive out to Goudhurst, after meeting up at Foskers emporium at Brands Hatch. The constant flow of howling Ferrari's always seems to excite the heavy throng of M25 commuters, and it was no different this month, as Jeff Fosker in his 550 Maranello, and Paul Coombs, in his stunning Challenge Stradale, lead the proceedings, followed by 'Swiss' Tony Glynn bringing up the rear.
Amazingly, all managed to escape the 'camera van' on the A21 just north of Lamberhurst (remember that for the future) before turning off onto the Goudhurst Road. This road has some good turns that scream ‘attack me’ and you have to oblige, by a quick double blip on the paddle, and then burying the accelerator into the bulkhead, these cars were built for this, and that’s why all Ferrari drivers have the Cheshire cat grin.
When we arrived at Goudhurst, it was good to see a few more had studied their emails, and we were greeted by the magnificent view of JW’s F40, which is always a pleasant sight. Roger Collingwood was in attendance in another 550M, and I think I spotted Neil Stevenson in the rare silver 360 Modena.
It was encouraging to see so many familiar faces, and I am sure next month will see a massive turnout, as we all might turn up at the same venue! Hopefully the long summer nights will be with us, and who knows maybe even some sunshine then we can play outside, just like when we were kids!, I look forward to it, June the 4th, venue to be decided, until then, keep em sunny side up!
