Groombridge Place Ferrari Day

What a fantastic turn out for the Groombridge Place Ferrari and Balloons day, even the sun turned out, which was nice as this years event also incorporated Ducati motorcycles.

Jill Todd managed to orchestrate a very smoothly run day, which attracted a large public attendance and I am sure they got value for money, as there was a field of Ferraris about 30 Ducatis and half a dozen balloons, all of which looked amazing on the day, testament to the love lavished upon them by their meticulous owners.

The Ferraris managed a good mix of contemporary models including Scuderias, 16m’s to the evergreen classics like Dino’s and 365 GTC’s. In fact the car voted as car of the day by the viewing public actually went to Foskers for their 246 GT, the owners club vote went to the fantastic 365 GTC owned by Simon.

We took along some of Colin and Jeff’s own bikes to display including the Desmosedeci, 998 Testestretta and a MV 1000 F4 just for beauty alone! The bikes got a great reception from the public; it is not often you get to see these machines unless you attend a specific bike function, which is usually very specialised.

There were Bevel drive 900 SS’s and Mike Hailwood replicas alongside modern Paul Smart replicas, Foggy replicas and a few home made café racer specials, all immaculately turned out, sounding magnificent. I do hope Jill keeps these bikes on the agenda for next year!

To give the eardrums a break Groombridge Place had some amazing walks, some of which are under trees and give a welcome rest bite from the glorious sun. Along with the stunning gardens Groombridge really has something for everyone, a real family day out, don’t miss next year!!
