The sun shone brightly on the 18th July 2010 as 250 Ferrari Owners attended Foskers Concours d’Elegance and Garden Party in the beautiful surroundings of Ightham Warren in the heart of Kent. Following the success of last year’s event, James and Shelagh Needham offered their hospitality to host this year’s event in aid of Demelza Hospice Care for Children.
This year’s theme was Ferrari through the ages, a celebration of all things Italian with classic road and race Alfas displayed to celebrate their 100th birthday.
As owners arrived the lawns became a sea of red with cars of all ages in groups amongst the beautifully kept gardens of Ightham Warren.
In front of the house stood a simply outstanding display of race cars from David Piper, Bryn Williams and Max Wakefield, which included a Ferrari P2, 365P, 206 Dino, P4 replica and T33. Other cars which looked stunning on the lawn were a selection of 288 GTO’s, F40’S, F50, Dino’s, Daytona’s, Boxers, 360’s and 430’s. An array of both modern and classic V12’s decorated the landscape including a beautiful 330 GTS and an impressive line of 308’s through to the 328 series.
The whole display of cars was simply breathtaking covering all ages and tipos including many show Concourse winning examples.
With Brian Jones back in control of proceedings Sally Brighton gave an insight into the wonderful work carried out by Demelza Hospice Care for Children. With fund raising and a charity auction we were very pleased to raise £13,000 for this fantastic charity, we would like to thank all the owners for their generosity.
With perfect weather everyone was able to enjoy the atmosphere and surroundings, catch up with friends whilst the judges cast their expert eye over the cars with awards presented by Brian later in the afternoon.
With Brian Jones mixing with the owners he was able to interview several people to probe some of the history and interesting events the cars had been through.
Any Ferrari party would not be complete without some Ferrari music and this year the race car owners very kindly allowed the engines of these cars to be started emitting the most magnificent sound.
This year was a truly magnificent event and definitely one for next year’s calendar. Thank you to everybody who made this event such a success.
We must thank everyone for bringing their Ferrari to this wonderful event, especially Bobby Bell and Simon for starting the Alfa which is a very long process. Special thanks to Carzpix.com and michaelwardphotos.com for their photography and Allan Sayers.
If you own a Ferrari and would like to be advised of next year’s event then please email vanessa@foskers.com with your name, address, telephone number, Ferrari model and registration.
