The FOC track day at Brands Hatch race circuit was just the excuse we needed to get the 456 out on track. On Tuesday evening the technicians worked late preparing the car ready for its third outing!
The team arrived trackside early Wednesday morning to set up the garages ready for the exciting day that lay ahead. Foskers took the opportunity to invite some clients to our home track to show off our dark horse.
Paul, our race driver took the 456 out for some warm up laps before handing over the reins to Jeff! With some trepidation Jeff got behind the wheel of the 456, this was his first experience of driving the race car on track and he headed out with an instant grin on his face as he accelerated round Paddock Hill bend. When Jeff came in he was elated at the performance of the race car which Foskers had built “it is fantastic, so quick”, he said as he took off his crash helmet, still grinning profusely.
The morning started full of sunshine as around 70 Ferraris signed up for mischief and mayhem on the famous Kent circuit. Luckily the mayhem was left firmly outside the track as no one suffered any major damage or mishaps. Colin Fosker had a heart skipping moment when a 360 spun in front of him, facing vertical on the track when it came to a halt, leaving plenty of room for him to drive round. The weather stayed fine until mid afternoon when a down pour sufficiently wet the track surface. Foskers own version of the Stig, Paul Brooks was not even fazed by the “little sprinkling of rain” and as soon as the team fitted the wets he was off out again making the most of testing the limits of this race car.
Foskers had guests Nik and Michele at Brands Hatch for the day who won an auction in aid of the Alzheimer’s Trust to spend the day with us. Both Nik and Michele went out in the 456 race car before joining us for lunch. Michele was over overjoyed when she exited the race car after her laps of the Grand Prix circuit, a converted petrol head!
Luckily the track dried quickly allowing for some fast laps at the end of the day. A fantastic day was had by all. Thank you to the FOC for organising such a wonderful day at Brands Hatch, a track we love, although we are slightly biased :-)
